I purchased the first
of your titanium regulators to make it to the Caribbean in 1997. Since
that time I have used
that regulator for well over 5000 dives (out
of a total of 12,978 as of yesterday, February
1st , 2006). The 5000 or so dives were done
under some of the worst conditions for a regulator;
bright sun, heat, salt water, saline and hard
rinse water. It was banged around by clumsy
staff, tossed, dropped and all the other things
that happen to dive gear in a professional
and busy operation. The regulator was used
to a maximum depth of 210 feet, in caves and
caverns, wrecks, and reefs. It was used in
mud, several times when I was called to assist
during dredging operations where I had to recover
equipment in limestone emulsion. Almost all of these dives were
done with Nitrox, I usually use between 30-32%.
I never had to call a dive, skip a dive or
abort a dive because of problems with the regulator.
While some of the plastic trim has had to be
replaced over the years, the titanium still
looks almost like it did newly out of the box.
More importantly to me, the internal parts
look exactly like new, shiny, smooth and without
a hint of any corrosion.
While I have worn out many so called lifetime
pieces of scuba gear, I fully expect my Atomic Aquatics
titanium regulator to last beyond the rest
of my dive career.
